It has come to my attention that there is significant discussion going on about male dancers studying pointe work. I tried to post a comment at dance.net forum about this but couldn't because I'm not a guy - it is the only gender restricted forum I've found so far..... Anyway, I'm posting here to see if anyone has wondered about this.

IMHO I think it's great for male dance students to study in pointe shoes. It demands strength and balance. Properly studied, it adds to your technique that is geared toward injury prevention and even minor sprains and strains.

Most pointe shoe manufacturers make fairly large pointe shoes. You can always get therm to practice in.

male dancers don't study pointe...I think that male dancers shouldn't study pointe because the pointe don't look good and beautiful in a male body as they look in a female body in my opinion.it's the same about the jumps that the male dancers do...these jumps don't fit in the female bodies...
