I get a lot of questions from students who want to know when they will start pointe work.
There is no formula or predictable timetable for this. It depends on the correctness of basic technique. Good standing posture, held turnout and a demi-plie that is on balance (and also maintains good posture) will move you forward.
A student does not need to be advanced, but must have the required technique learned. Pointe work can be limited to press ups and releves in first and second position for as long as necessary. That is not advanced, but will create a foundation to build on.
How many classes a week you take, how good those classes are and how well you work are the factors that determine how strong you become and how fast.
You own personal ambition and quest for progress is another ingredient that determines how fast and well you advance. There is a wealth of information in text and video format that you can absorb yourself in. And that's what it takes to excell.

Those are the very good points one needs to have to start pointe work. Interest and dedication are important!
